Japan And Spain Qualify For The Round Of 16 Of World Cup 2022 After Japan’s 2-1 Victory

Japan and Spain have qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup 2022.

The Group E encounter ended with the Japanese leading 2-1.

Alvaro Morata put the Spanish side ahead in the 11th minute.

Japan got the equalizer through Ritsu Doan after 48 minutes of action.

The Japanese took the lead in the 51st minute after Atomu Tanaka found the next. The goal was accepted after a VAR review.

Pressure from the Spanish team could not change the result.

Japan led Group E of the World Cup 2022 with six points, while Spain had four points.

The Spanish side qualified ahead of Germany which also had four points because of the goal difference.

Germany lost 2-1 against Japan in their first match, following the stunning victory, the Japanese team were beaten by Costa Rica.

Spain on the other hand grabbed a massive 7-0 win against Costa Rica in their opening match and drew 1-1 with Germany in their second group match.
