A driver has met his untimely death following an accident at Apimanim in the Ahanta West Municipal Assembly.
The deceased driver drove a Toyota vehicle with registration number GE 3040-12.
A report sighted by Newshuntermag.com said he was driving at a top speed and ran into a trailer with registration number AJ 27 10.
Following the accident, the driver of the trailer narrated what happened: “I stopped to urinate. I was just about to enter the road again when the Toyota ran into my vehicle.”
An eyewitness also stated that he heard someone calling for help when the crash occurred.
“When I rushed to the car, it was the driver calling for help. Unfortunately, he stopped and I saw him give what appeared to be his last breath. He was the only one in the car. The car was lying on its side.”
The mangled Toyota vehicle was overturned with the help of some members of the Western Region branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), who were returning from Jomoro on an official assignment, and some police officers.
The deceased driver was sent to a hospital after being taken from the car.
All this while, the trailer driver remained at the scene.
We will advise all drivers to drive cautiously, over-speeding kills. It is better to arrive late at your destination than to cut your life short.
