The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has thrown its weight behind Saudi Arabia’s bid for the rights to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034.
The Middle Eastern country is contending against nations from Asia and Oceania for the prestigious tournament’s hosting privileges as the deadline for submissions looms on October 31.
They have so far received endorsements from over 70 federations.
GFA added to the growing list by expressing its support in a statement and hoped for an “incredible tournament” that will foster unity.
“Ghana Football Association stands with our friends at Saudi Arabian Football Federation as they embark on their journey to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. Inspired by their remarkable transformation and fueled by the passion of their fans, we are excited to support the vision of #Saudi2034. Together, we believe in delivering an incredible tournament that unites the world through the beautiful game!” it said.
GFA and the Saudi Arabian Federation in December 2022 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for “mutual benefits”.
Ghana’s endorsement for their World Cup bid goes to further deepen the ties between the two federations.
