Dr Joseph Yere, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Mental Health Coordinator, has revealed how the issue of DKM Microfinance Company affected some of its customers.

Some years ago, a section of the customers of the now defunct company had their monies locked up.

This was after the Bank of Ghana (BoG) suspended the operations of DKB on May 11, 2015, for violating the Banking Act.

Speaking in a recent interview with Newshuntermag.com’s Kofi Oppong Kyekyeku on Unlimited Chat With K.O.K, Dr Joseph Yere disclosed that the cases of mental health challenges went up in the three Bono and Ahafo Regions because of the issue.

Breaking it down, he said some of the customers were depressed, others battled anxiety disorders, while the remaining were severely affected mentally.

According to him, this was retrieved from the 2018 statistics of the Regions’ Mental Health office.

He further divulged the help that his outfit has been offering to people with mental health challenges.
