Ghanaian economist and an independent presidential aspirant, Dr Sam Ankrah, has reacted to the 2023 State of the Nation address by President Akufo-Addo.

President Akufo-Addo addressed the nation on March 8, 2023, at the Parliament House of Ghana. This was in accordance with the provisions in Article 67 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

He asserted that going before the Parliament House to deliver a message is a symbol of democracy and accountability.

Nana Addo said the address offers the opportunity to provide an honest assessment of the country’s situation and seek the support of all in addressing it with hope and confidence.

Though the President talked about a lot of things, Dr Ankrah tackled it from a different perspective.

In a video available to Newshuntermag.com, the aspiring independent presidential figure stated that this year’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) sang praises of a mediocre and painful past.

He averred the address failed to set stepping stones into the future.

The prolific economist added that “this State of the Nation address made a mockery of our bitter and bleak economic circumstance by gaslighting Ghanaians to accept the illusion that our lives and livelihoods are far better off, in direct opposite to the harsh realities we wake up to each every day.”

Dr Sam Ankrah stressed that the time for Ghanaians to wrestle their independence from the self-styled NPP-NDC fraternity is long overdue.
